Favourite Travel Memories of 2016

Hello everyone! Since last weekend was New Years, I thought it’d be fun to write about my favourite travel memories of the past year. I was inspired by other ‘best of’ blog posts to do one of my own. So although it wasn’t my idea to begin with, I still thought it would be fun to write about. Anyways, I hope you enjoy!

Boating in Canyon Lake, Arizona

In March of 2016, I was fortunate enough to visit Canyon Lake in Arizona with one of my friends. This was one of my favourite memories from 2016 because it reminded me that you don’t have to go far from home to have an adventure. It was also a lot of fun to explore the lake and the beautiful scenery around it.

Touring the Tower Of London in London, England

My favourite memory in London was easily visiting the Tower Of London. I loved learning about the history of the Tower Of London. Although a lot of it is a bit scary, it’s also fascinating. I also loved imagining being there hundreds of years ago, when it was still an actual palace.

Seeing Baby Pigs in Leicestershire, England

While visiting the English county of Leicestershire, I got to visit Oakley Grange, a farm with a bunch of animals! I loved this experience because I really love animals and I’ve never seen baby pigs before. While we were at the farm, we also had lunch at the cafe which was really good.

Staying at a 700 year-old hotel in Bath, England

Definitely one of my favourite memories ever was staying in the George Inn, a 700-year-old hotel. Staying there was like taking a step back in time into medieval England. I’d definitely recommend booking a room if you’re visiting Bath. Check out this 360 tour of the Inn here!

Visiting the Katten Kabinet museum in Amsterdam, Netherlands

One of the coolest museums I’ve ever been to is the Katten Kabinet in Amsterdam. If you know me, you know that I love cats, so when I heard of this museum I knew I had to visit it! The Katten Kabinet is full of paintings and sculptures about cats, and it’s perfect for anyone obsessed with kitties.

Climbing up the 300+ step Belfy in Bruges, Belgium

When visiting Bruges, my family and I decided to climb up the 366-step Belfry in the middle of the town square. Although it was hard to climb up, the view at the top was 100% worth it. I will always remember the feeling of looking out over the entire city of Bruges.

Eating Belgian Waffles in Bruges, Belgium

As Belgium is known for its delicious desserts, I knew I had to try some of them when I visited. After trying a few different waffles, I’ve decided that the best waffles in Bruges are from Oyya. The waffles were fresh, delicious, and affordable, with tons of choices for toppings. Their waffles were probably the best dessert I had all year!

Going up (and down!) the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway in Palm Springs, California

My final favourite memory of last year would have to be going to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. I loved this because I wasn’t expecting it to be as interesting as it actually was! Once we got to the top of the mountain, there was a ton of nature around us. The views at the top were also really pretty, and you were able to see really far out.

I have always wanted to visit Bruges since seeing the movie “In Bruges”. It takes place in… well, you can probably figure that out!

Katten Kabinet looks like a lot of fun too. Amsterdam has a lot of great small museums and galleries to go along with the big ones like the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum.

Perhaps I will rethink my top 8 if you put some Taylor Swift on The Wizard 😉

Loved that you stayed in a 700 year old hotel! Glad you had a good time close to home as well. Sometimes the best parts of the world can be found in your backyard!

Very true – sometimes we get so caught up in visiting new places that we forget how amazing the place we’re in is. Thank you for commenting!
